An annual event on the August Bank Holiday since 1966, the Notting Hill Carnival is the largest street festival in all of Europe, and second largest in the world after Brazil’s Rio Carnival. A local festival started by the West Indian community of Notting Hill is now a full-blooded Caribbean carnival, attracting millions.
We went to have a look although our Brit friends “gave it a miss” (my current favorite British expression!) this year. We ate jerk chicken, greens and dumpling over rice on the street. We were
busy people watching. The carnival brought in the noise & brought in the funk, the right way.
